Frank L. Schubert

Frank Leo Schubert peacefully left this world in the arms of his loving son Mark on October 26, 2012 after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.

Frank was born in Spokane on September 6, 1940 to Leo and Elinor Schubert. He graduated from North Central High School in Spokane in 1958 and the University of Washington in 1976.

Frank was proud to serve his country in the Army from 1959 to 1963 and was an active member of the VFW Post 5297. Frank's passionate advocacy for those in need was inspired by his daughter Nichole's lifelong struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. Frank belonged to many boards and committees in support of his advocacy efforts.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Elinor Schubert. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat; his son Mark (Tina); his daughter Nichole; four grandchildren Brittanie, Steven, Seth and Delaney; two brothers Jim and Jack (Galie); two sisters, Marcia and Helen (Dan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was known for his love of animals, his commitment to advocacy and his devotion to his family and friends. He will be remembered for his fighting spirit.

A service is planned for Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the J.A. Wendt Elementary multi-purpose room in Cathlamet with a potluck to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ARC of Cowlitz County or the VFW Post #5297.
