Voters residing in Fire District 4 have found a measure on their ballots asking for approval of a 10-year bond to buy a new fire engine.
The bond would collect $250,000 for purchasing and equipping a new truck and also for extending the Elochoman Valley station so that it can house an engine.
The new engine would replace a 24-year-old engine that has started to require extensive maintenance. The district board of commissioners plan to puchase a suitable used engine.
Voters approved a $280,000 levy 13 years ago for purchasing a water tender and expanding the Boege Road station. That levy expired in 2008.
District officials say the annual tax for the proposed bond would be around $29 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
"If people want more information, they can call me at (360) 795-8010," said district Chief Jim Wilson.
