Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
September 24--3:28 p.m. The Cathlamet and District 4 Fire Departments responded to a brush fire at Vista Park. 3:58 p.m. A caller reported that a car had gone into a ditch near The Duck Inn in Skamokawa after pulling over too far to let fire trucks past.
September 25--9:17 a.m. A West Cape Horn Road resident reported that someone had broken into his house and stolen a generator. A deputy made contact.
September 26--10:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic to aid a 51-year-old man with an altered mental status. 12:31 p.m. Deputies and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to a North Welcome Slough Road address after reports of noxious smoke. A deputy was advised and found a neighbor was smoking fish. 3:08 p.m. A report was made of ID theft. A deputy made contact.
September 27--11:03 p.m. A caller reported two girls were playing truant. A deputy made contact and was informed by the girls' mother that they were ill. 1:54 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a one-year-old girl who was having difficulty breathing. 2:47 p.m. An East Valley Road resident reported a man had left a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. The caller made contact again after the man returned to his car from the direction of a creek with two backpacks.
September 28--1:26 p.m. A caller reported a possible marijuana growing operation in the Elochoman Valley area. 3:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Main Street address to aid a man with chest pain. 5:28 p.m. A Hungry Highway resident reported a possible break-in at his garage. A deputy investigated. 5:59 p.m. A Salmon Creek Road resident reported that someone was firing a rifle in the middle of the road creating a danger. A deputy investigated and found evidence of negligent behavior.
September 29--1:22 p.m. A Jacobson Road resident reported a case of telephone harassment.
September 30--1 a.m. A caller reported that cattle were loose in the East Birnie Slough Road/Hedlund Road area on Puget Island. A deputy made contact. 8:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an East SR 4 residence to aid an 84-year-old woman with nausea. 2:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Main Street address to aid a 53-year-old man with chest pain. LifeFlight was activated. 3:10 p.m. A deputy made a traffic stop and cited the driver for driving while license suspended. 4:19 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elm Street address to aid a 19-year-old male who was non-responsive after smoking synthetic marijuana. 5:59 p.m. A caller reported a woman was being hostile and blaring music at a Main Street address. A deputy made contact.
