Mule volleyballers win one, lose one

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team has split its first two matches of the season.

Last Thursday at Naselle, the Mules won 25-20, 25-10, 25-12.

"Baylee Olsen had 11 kills, six aces and four blocks," new Mule Coach Kayli Anderson reported. "Haylee Budd had 34 assists. Maya Stanley was solid on defense and serve receive."

On Tuesday, the Mules traveled to Onalaska and lost 12-25, 21-25, 15-25.

"We started slowly, and things didn't pick up enough for us to come up with a win," Anderson said. "It was a night of unforced errors on offense and the service line for us."

"Tori Wegdahl came up with five kills and three aces; Marissa Washington chipped in with four kills, and Haylee Budd had 13 assists and one solo stuff block."

The Mules entertain Napavine tonight (Thursday) in their first home match of the year. They'll play in a Saturday tournament at Mossyrock and head to Morton/White Pass on Tuesday. They entertain Toutle Lake on September 20.
