Fair passes have been distributed to six local businesses to make it easier this year to find and purchase your three day Fair pass. The passes are a bargain, costing only $6 each! We have great musicians to entertain you on the stage every day, multiple food vendors, handcrafted or grown exhibits made by your friends, livestock shows all three days, our park will be full of Model Ts, antique tractors, the trolley, a full size stage coach, view our Gillnet Boat display and River City Forge will be doing blacksmithing demonstrations on the hour all three days. Support your Wahkiakum County Fair by purchasing a Fair pass at the Skamokawa Resort, Sharon’s Pizza and More, Cathlamet Pharmacy, Bank of the Pacific in Cathlamet, the Rosburg Store, the Bank of the Pacific in Naselle and the Fairgrounds office.

The Wahkiakum County Fair received a generous donation from Jon Peterson and Brenda Kanegan last week. This donation will be put to good use as we continue to improve the fairgrounds and get ready for the 2012 Fair. Thank you, Jon and Brenda!

Groups of shoppers stopped by the fairgrounds Rummage and Book sale on Saturday and took home sacks full of treasures! Thank you for your purchases! We will be open just one more Saturday before we pack everything up and seriously start getting the T-building ready for our Fair. Hope you can stop by July 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to shop and also watch the Horsemanship Challenge in our arena.

Wahkiakum County Fair now has a Facebook page! You can view our 2012 Fair entertainment schedule, check for new events happening at the Fairgrounds each weekend and we have pictures of our Columbia River Gillnet boat posted on the page.

Like to paint? I just purchased 17 gallons of paint in various pretty colors to brighten up our fairgrounds buildings. We also have 24 stalls that were just built for sheep, goats and pigs that need a coat of paint too. If you have community service hours to complete, help us paint the fairgrounds! Fair time is just a few weeks away give me a call if you have some time to help.

If you need to gain access to the Fairgrounds contact Fair Manager Becky Ledtke at 360-795-3480 and please leave a message. Need some exhibitor tags or an exhibitor number? The Fair office will be open Monday-Thursday noon to 3 p.m. or by appointment if these hours don’t fit your schedule.

The next Wahkiakum County Fair Advisory Board meeting will be held on August 8 at the fairgrounds, 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
