Charles L. Holm

Naselle resident Charles LeRoy "Hoopy" Holm, 80, died July 4, 2012 in Longview, from complications related to Alzheimer’s. He was born in South Bend on May 22, 1932 the son of Forrest and Florence (Raemhild) Holm.

Hoopy married his high school sweetheart Verna Penttila on May 5, 1951.

He served during the Korean War and upon completion of his military service returned to Naselle and spent the rest of his working life as a heavy equipment logger for Penttila Logging and DeBriae Logging.

During his retirement years he kept busy serving as the Naselle area handyman. He also served with the Naselle Fire Department, was timekeeper for Naselle High School “Comets” sports events for many years, and was a member of Naselle Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Verna; daughter Cindy; sons Steve and Chris; daughter-in-law Carolyn; son-in-law George; and grandchildren Jenny, Mike, John, George and Sophia.

A graveside service was held July 7, at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle.
