News from Naselle:
The Naselle-Grays River Valley High School class of 2012 will bid farewell to one chapter of their lives on Saturday when they accept their diplomas, graduating from high school. The ceremony will take place in the gym at 4 p.m.
This group of students will take their place in the new world of learning when they make their decisions on where to go from here. Many will head off to college, and some will make their way without a higher education. No matter what the choice, it will be difficult in the world as it is now. As a community we have given our kids the best we have to offer in the way of education, and we can only hope that good choices will be made by these young people looking to their own futures.
Congratulations to the awesome class of 2012 Comets! Good wishes go with you.
Kindergarten graduation will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and the 8th Grade Move-up will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The last day of school will be next Thursday and students will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.
After celebrating a graduation for our younger folks, why not give a shout out to a wonderful Naselle couple who will be celebrating 50 glorious years as man and wife. Cliff and Kaye Weimer will welcome family and friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, located at 725 33rd Street in Astoria, Oregon. In lieu of gifts a money tree will be available. They look forward to sharing this special occasion with everyone.
The Friday Club of the Congregational United Church of Christ located at 14 Parpala Road in Naselle will host a lunch at noon on June 15. They will have a representative from the Olympic Area Agency on Aging to discuss the effects of medications as we age. This is a very important subject to everyone, as many medications react differently on individuals and can have adverse effects when taken with other medications. Bring your questions and join in on this important discussion.

If you have extra garden tools, we could use rakes, hoes, shovels, loppers, etc. in good working condition. If you have any of the above items and would like to donate them please call Penny Gregory at 465-2775 or Steve Ramsay at 465-2731.
On that same note, if you have shrubs, rhododendrons, or other ornamental plants that you would like to donate to help beautify the park, please contact Penny or Steve.

This is a reminder that the annual Pig Roast/Campout held at the home of Poul and Zenaida Toftemark on the first weekend of August will not be held this year. The Toftemarks want to thank everyone for supporting their efforts in going through the adoption process to bring Elmer home from the Philippines as their son. They hope to continue the pig roast tradition in the future. This early reminder is put forth so attendees can make other plans for that summer weekend.
