Sheriff's Report - May 31, 2012

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 22--9:12 a.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported a dead elk in his field. The Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 11:42 a.m. An Ostervold Road resident reported a dead sea lion on the beach. The NOAA's National Marine Fishery Service was notified. 5:57 p.m. A caller reported a broken window on an unoccupied house on 2nd Street.

May 23--11:55 a.m. A caller reported the theft of gas cans, tools and other items from a boat moored at the Skamokawa Resort Dock. A deputy made contact.

May 24-- 9:11 a.m. A Delores Road resident reported seeing a man crouching in a neighbor's garden. When the caller confronted him, he jumped up and ran away.

May 25--4:54 p.m. A Cathlamet business reported a motorist had driven off without paying for gas. The subject's wife returned to pay for the gas after realizing a mistake had been made. 6:50 p.m. Dispatch received a number of calls regarding a power outage on W SR4 after a tree fell on power lines. PUD was advised. 11:33 p.m. A Cochran Drive resident reported that for three nights a car had been stopping at every driveway and seemed to be looking around. A deputy was advised.

May 26--12:28 p.m. A juvenile female was arrested in connection with a May 7 theft case. 4:49 p.m. A Cathlamet business reported that they had fired an employee who was refusing to return a business key pending receipt of their last paycheck. 6:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported hearing approximately 12 shots and possible cannon fire or explosions in a no shooting zone. A deputy investigated and found two separate incidents; one involving fireworks and another involving clay bird shooting. All involved were advised of local ordinances and restrictions. 9:01 p.m. A caller reported a person was drunk and disorderly at Skamokawa Vista Park.
