Sheriff's Report - May 24, 2012

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 14--2:20 p.m. A Waranka Road resident reported the theft of various items including tools and an engine. A deputy was advised.11:26 p.m. One person was taken into custody following a traffic stop on SR 4 near Rosburg.

May 15--8:03 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle in a ditch on Risk Road. 12:07 a.m. A caller reported a sexual assault that occurred last summer. The case was referred to Child Protective Services. 1:34 p.m. A Middle Valley Road resident reported that a family member was very angry and causing a disturbance in a house with three children in it. 3:23 p.m. A caller reported that a log truck had rolled over on West Valley Road. 3:36 p.m. A caller reported that he believed his elderly father had been a victim of fraud and neglect. 5:05 p.m. A Hay Way resident reported finding roofing nails at the end of her driveway. 7:50 p.m. A Risk Road resident reported that someone had broken into his shop and left items out to pick up later. Deputies were advised. 9:41 p.m. A caller reported a possible stranded boater at Cooper Point after hearing a motor trying to start up and seeing lights flashing on and off.

May 16--1:10 a.m. A caller reported burning in a shop on Beaver Creek Road. 7:45 a.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported that a helicopter was spraying something into the air that was causing him chest pain. The caller refused an ambulance. 8:58 a.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported that her neighbor's dog was being aggressive. The caller was advised to use pepper spray on the animal if it continued to act aggressively. 11:30 a.m. A Randall Drive Road resident reported that a neighbor was getting ready to burn possible illegal material.

May 17--2:53 p.m. A West SR 4 resident reported that her estranged husband had removed items from her residence. 4:27 p.m. A caller reported a 53-year-old woman had taken an overdose. Deputies and an ambulance responded. 10:18 p.m. A caller reported hearing rumors that a man was planning to attack him at a youth sporting event. A deputy was advised.

May 18--8:37 a.m. A caller reported that someone had drained the water tank at the golf course. 4:02 p.m. An Elk Meadow Drive resident reported a possible fraud attempt after receiving a text message claiming the caller had won $1,000 from Walmart. A deputy made contact. 4:41 p.m. A caller threatened to kill a neighbor's dog. A deputy made contact with the dog owner's house sitter. 11:14 p.m. Fire crews responded to a structure fire on Fossil Creek Road.

May 19--9:50 a.m. The Risk Road resident who reported a shop theft on May 15 now reported that the camera set up by deputies had been taken. 11:18 a.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported a credit card theft. 7:50 p.m. Deputies arrested a man on a warrant from Cowlitz County near Crown Camp Road. The subject was transferred to Cowlitz County.

May 20--Deputies responded to an Island View Lane residence after a juvenile female threatened suicide. Mental health services were notified.

May 21--Deputies and fire crews responded to aid a horse that was stuck in a drainage ditch on West Sunny Sands Road.
