Candidates file for offices

Filing for positions on the 2012 election ballots opened Monday, and many candidates showed interest in local offices.

Here are the filings as of Tuesday afternoon. Filing continues through the week; if a position has no candidate, a special filing period will be held next week.

Wahkiakum PUD commissioner, Position 1: Gene Healy and Lisa Marsyla. The position is non partisan.

Healy, a retired phone industry executive, was appointed to fill a vacancy last year. Marsyla is retiring after a term as county commissioner; she was once auditor of Wahkiaum PUD.

Wahkiakum PUD commissioner, Position 2: Robert L. Jungers (NP). Jungers is the current position holder.

Wahkiakum County commissioner, District 1: Stephanie Prestegard (Independent); Greg Prestegard (Democrat), Mike Backman (I). (Editor's note: The Prestegards are distant relations through marriage.)

Wahkiakum County commissioner, District 2: Dan L. Cothren (I); Joan Harvey-Chester (I). Cothren is the incumbent commissioner.

Wahkiakum County treasurer: Susan Bate (R); Marlena G. Silva (D); Tammy Peterson (D). Silva is the current office holder; she was appointed to fill a vacancy in March.

Precinct committee persons: Susan M. O'Connor (D), Skamokawa; Dan Bigelow (D), Rosedale.

Superior Court judge, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties, a non-partisan office: Mike Sullivan, the incumbent judge.

State senator, District 19: Rick Winsman (prefers Republican); Longview; Brian Hatfield (prefers Democratic); Raymond.

District 19 State Representative, Position 1: Dean Takko (prefers Democratic); Longview; Dixie Kolditz (prefers Republican; Cathlamet. Takko is the incumbent.

District 19 State Representative, Position 2: Brian E. Blake (prefers Democratic; Longview. Blake is the incumbent.
