Boundary Hearing for Proposed NRCA
A public hearing will be held on May 17, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the WahkiakumCounty Courthouse, Third Floor meeting room, 64 Main Street,Cathlamet, WA.
At the hearing the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will present a proposed transfer of approximately 67 acres of “state forest land” in Wahkiakum County into “natural resources conservation area” (NRCA) management status. Following a short overview, DNR will receive public testimony on the proposed boundary of the NRCA. The NRCA will be created under Chapter 354, Laws of 2009, as approved by the Washington State Legislature— transferring certain lands out of the state forest trust in order to replace them by purchasing productive new trust lands “to maintain long-term working forests.”
