Students jump into play for Saturday

It was with open arms that Directors Ted Drury and Eli Halterman welcomed a group of Wahkiakum School District’s top thespian talent on Monday.

Open auditions were held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Cinderella. Roles were available for students in kindergarten and up through high school seniors.

Children, big and small, made a circle and took turns displaying their talents by running through lines, singing and even putting a little bit of miming to use.

In the end, the following roles were assigned:

Prince: Ben Vasion.

Cinderella: Sidney Ashe.

Stepmother: Opal Whitaker.

Beauty: Haley Kerstetter.

Lovely: Katy Stacey.

Annie the Fairy Godmother: Mariah Mogush.

King: Taya Deal.

Cleo: Amanda Carroll.

Fido: Novella Hakkanen

Town Criers: Charlie Ashe and Peyton Souvenir.

Beggars: Cole Hauff, Ellie Leitz, Charly Childers, Tessa Tietje, Ariele Retherford, Micca Cothren, Grayci Thomas, Morgan Bashore and Brianna Peek.

Lords and Ladies: Sara Buennagel, Cadence Guest, Teylor Sauer, Faith Crawford, McKensi Fluckinger, Emily Frank, Katie Thomason, Makaila Bigelow, Hailee Wyatt, Grant Leavitt, Jansi Merz, and Levi Delamarter.

Mice: Mariah Smith, Alaina Frank, Faith Holland, Gabby Morrill, Amaya Jones, Miranda Lomax, and Autumn Richards.

Pumpkins: Dakota Nicholson, Maya Kerstetter, Megan Leitz and Ava Thomas.

With scripts in hand, students have gone right to work in preparations for the final performances this Saturday at 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. in the Wahkiakum High School gymnasium.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula, Mont. This year, thanks to the Parent Teacher Organization, Wahkiakum students will join more than 65,000 cast members across the globe, taking the stage to the delight and applause of their families, friends, community, neighbors and teachers.
