A new project to improve the water system in the Fairgrounds Park is underway. Bill Chamberlain is using his equipment to install a new water line to the Fairgrounds Park covered area. The project will greatly improve the water system for our campers and we will have water readily available if there is a fire in the park area. Bill and volunteer Ed Stevens were working quickly to accomplish this project last week but their ditch kept filling up with rain water! Work on the project has been halted for a few days. Let’s hope for some sunny skies in the near future so they can continue with this project.

Some major landscaping has been accomplished at the fairgrounds in spite of all this rainy weather! We recently received a donation from Esther Gregg, these funds were to be used to purchase plants for our flower beds. Six flower beds have been weeded and replanted giving the fairgrounds a beautiful manicured look . Thank you, Esther, Ed, Barb and Georgie, the new flower beds look great!

Do you love flowers and want to become involved in the volunteer opportunities before and during our Fair? Here is your chance, a Floral superintendent is needed in the Adult Open Class T-building. You will be working with some of the nicest volunteers in the county as we make the T-building look beautiful. If interested and would like more information call the Fair office and leave a message. I will call you back soon!

If you need to gain access to the Fairgrounds contact Fair Manager Becky Ledtke at 560-0371 or you can call 795-3480 and leave a message.

The next Wahkiakum County Fair Advisory Board meeting will be on April 11, at 7 p.m. at the River Street Building meeting room in Cathlamet.
