Mules start season 6-0
The Wahkiakum Mule golf team has started the 2012 season with six straight wins. The Mules opened the season March 15 with a four player record setting 164, said Coach Nick Vavoudis, and that beats the previous record of 168. Other team scores were Willapa Valley 200, Raymond 231, and South Bend and North Beach both incomplete.
Sophomore Austin Good placed first with 39; Zach Calvert, another sophomore, tied for second with junior teammates Bradley Peek and Bubba Calvert with 43 to capture the first four places among the 20 golfers.
Also playing for the Mules were Brysen Coleman, 49, and freshman Elliot Haney 55.
On Monday, Wahkiakum (193) beat NW Christian (217) by 17 and Kings Way (214) by 21.
Peek was medalist with a 44. Calvert and Austin Good, 47 each, tied for second. Coleman shot 55 and Calvert 56.
