Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
February 27--8:02 a.m. A Front Street resident reported that someone had taken money from both her checking and savings accounts. 10:37 a.m. A caller reported that her wallet was missing and may have been stolen.
February 28--7:11 .m. A Country Court Lane resident reported that a woman was yelling outside of her residence and neighbors were concerned for her well being. 1:29 p.m. A caller reported a large carport had blown into the middle of the street and was blocking traffic on Chester Road. 3:18 p.m. A caller reported finding credit cards on a family farm in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy investigated.
February 29--2:50 p.m. A 2nd Street resident reported receiving a suspicious bill. A deputy made contact with the company, who informed that they did not send the letter and advised the caller not to pay the bill. 11:04 p.m. A caller reported cows were out on Steamboat Slough Road. Deputies were unable to locate the owners.
March 1--11:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Ostervold Road residence to aid an 86-year-old man who was having trouble breathing. 12:53 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a woman may have been taking copper wire from a store. A deputy investigated and was unable to locate anyone on the premises. 3:55 p.m. An East Birnie Slough Road resident reported a vehicle had been vandalized. 5:51 p.m. A caller reported she had been hearing shots fired in Skamokawa in the early morning hours for two months. A deputy advised her to call back next time she heard the shots, which she did at 7:15 a.m. the next morning. 10:37 p.m. A Grays River resident reported hearing shots fired.
March 2--1:30 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by a person renting from him. 4:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Alder Street residence to aid a 75-year-old male with bladder problems. 5:39 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an SR 4 residence to aid a 30 -year-old woman with high blood pressure and tachycardia.
March 3--2:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Columbia Street residence to aid a woman who was semi-conscious and having breathing difficulty. 3:30 a.m. A 3rd Street resident reported being harassed by someone spraying poison on his windows. He refused the number for poison control and an ambulance. A deputy was advised. 1:37 p.m. A Fairgrounds Road resident reported a possible phone scam after receiving calls from companies demanding payment on loans he did not take out. The caller was advised to change his phone number. 2:06 p.m. An East Valley Road resident reported her son was being harassed by other youth in the neighborhood. A deputy investigated and found the incident was not a criminal matter. 3:40 p.m. A South Welcome Slough Road resident reported someone was firing a rifle towards his residence. 10:08 p.m. A caller reported an assault had taken place at the Rosburg Hall. A deputy made contact. 9:08 p.m. A caller reported a car had collided with an elk on SR 4 at Riverview Drive. No one was injured and the Department of Transportation cleared the scene.
March 4--10:29 a.m. A caller reported a tree was blocking Brooks Slough Road. The county road crew was advised. 2:32 p.m. A Wainamo Road resident reported being harassed. A deputy investigated. 4:45 p.m. A caller reported that a cat they had been feeding on property on E. Sunny Sands Road had been shot in the face. 5:02 p.m. A caller reported an individual was moored to his dock on Elochoman Slough and refused to leave.
March 5--An East Valley Road resident reported his house had been burglarized and firearms, power tools and a stereo system had been taken.
