Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
February 6--12:44 p.m. An Elm Street resident reported the theft of a social security check. An officer investigated and found that the checks had been treated as child support and no crime had been committed. 6:19 p.m. A caller reported that her husband had been drinking and was driving around with their daughter in the vehicle with him.
February 7--1:55 a.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident reported someone had pulled into her driveway. A deputy responded and found tire tracks but no vehicle. 11:32 a.m. A caller reported some people had threatened to shoot her. 12:01 p.m. A tow company requested traffic control while they pulled a vehicle out of a ditch on SR 4. 5:49 p.m. County deputies the Cathlamet ambulance and local fire crews responded to a car accident at Milepost 19 involving a truck that had crashed into a ditch. The driver had minor head injuries and the truck was totalled.
February 8--1:44 p.m. A person was taken into custody during sex offender registration on a warrant from Puyallup. 6:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a North Welcome Slough residence to aid a 65-year-old woman who had dislocated her hip.
February 9--1:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Jacobson Road resident who was having chest pain. 2:40 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic to aid a man who was having chest pain. He was taken to a hospital by Life Flight.
February 10--12:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a 3rd Street residence to aid a 77-year-old woman who was having a stroke. 10:50 a.m. A caller from the high school requested deputies assistance in a drug related incident. 12:18 p.m. An East Valley Road resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from a sales company who were becoming aggressive and ignoring requests to stop calling. A deputy investigated and advised the caller to have their phone company block the number. 6:32 p.m. A deputy stopped a vehicle at milepost 42.5; one person was taken into custody for providing false information and having outstanding warrants.
February 11--7:45 a.m. A Crown Camp Road resident reported someone had shot a hole in their pickup truck. 11:47 p.m. A Chester Street resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from California regarding her control over her daughter's bank account. A deputy ascertained that California authorities were unable to intervene and advised the caller to cut funds to the account until the situation was resolved. 5:40 p.m. A caller reported an oil sheen on the water east of the Puget Island bridge. Deputies were unable to investigate as it was too dark; the sheen was gone when the area was investigated the following morning.
February 12--12:02 a.m. A deputy pulled over a vehicle in the Greenwood area; the suspect fled the scene and was tazered by officers. He was taken to hospital by the Cathlamet ambulance. 11:29 a.m. A caller reported seeing an oil sheen on the river. Divers found a 30 ft boat had sunk. 12:27 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an SR 4 residence to aid a woman who was having a stroke. 1:02 p.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported that an elk was dying in their yard. State Patrol was contacted for a game agent. 2:06 p.m. Deputies responded to a rollover accident on SR4 which was blocking one lane. 2:56 p.m. Cathlamet fire crews responded to the cannery to assist with a hazmat situation. 8:38 p.m. A report of a possible domestic violence situation was received by Pacific County Sheriff's Department from an Eden Valley Road residence, but the connection was lost. By the time deputies arrived, one of the subjects had left the premises.
February 13--A West Little Island Road resident reported that he believed that there were people in his house and he believed they were attempting to steal fuel. A deputy responded and found that the people had left towards town and were not in the residence.
