Deputies and the Wahkiakum County coroner are investigating the death of Jaime Cooley, 33, who drowned in a hot tub on February 4 in an alcohol related incident.
Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 30--12:01 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a 2nd Street residence to aid a person with a suspected drug overdose. 9:04 p.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident reported a domestic disturbance involving a weapon. Deputies and a domestic violence advocate responded and one person was taken to a hospital before being taken into custody. 10:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Main Street resident having an asthma attack.
January 31--1:34 p.m. A caller reported a 16 year old male missing, having last been seen walking on a logging road near Mill Creek with another teenager. A deputy investigated and found that the boy had camped for a few days before returning home. 4:02 p.m. Deputies took one person into custody on a warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. 7:21 p.m. A caller reported hitting a large object that was blocking the road at West Cape Horn Road. Another motorist removed the object. 11:10 p.m. A Pleasant Point Road resident reported a suspicious person prowling on their property. A deputy investigated and found the suspect to be a 14-year-old boy.
February 1--8:13 a.m. A Raistakka Road resident requested a deputy's help in removing a woman from his property. A deputy responded and found the dispute to be a civil matter. 4:51 p.m. An East Birnie Slough Road resident reported a problem with a juvenile. A deputy investigated.
February 2--3:42 p.m. A South Welcome Slough Road resident reported an unknown motor home parked in his driveway. A deputy responded and informed the motor home owner that he was parked on private, not county, property.
February 3--11:24 a.m. A caller reported the theft of a Ford pickup from County Line Park. 12:24 p.m. A caller reported the theft of a GPS unit from a vehicle at County Line Park. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported that someone had broken a fiber optic cable between two poles opposite the Duck Inn. 5:00 p.m. A Jacobsen Road resident reported a woman beating on the door of his trailer. A deputy responded and took the woman into custody.
February 4--4:06 a.m. A Country Court Lane resident reported people banging on cars. 9:39 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a report of a woman who had drowned in a hot tub. 10:21 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to a shed fire that was threatening to spread to a house. 11:35 p.m. A caller reported seeing a glowing orange ball at Crown Camp. After watched it for a while, the caller reported it to the National UFO Reporting Center.
February 5--9:28 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Columbia Street residence to aid a man who was vomiting blood. 11:18 a.m. An Cathlamet business reported the theft of gas. 2:51 p.m. A Columbia Street resident reported a 45-year-old woman had been causing a disturbance and was heading towards Erickson Park. A deputy responded. 4:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 92-year-old woman who had fallen and cut her head. 10:25 p.m. Deputies stopped a vehicle on Elochoman Valley Road. One person was taken into custody.
