Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 16--9:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Jacobson Road resident who was very ill. 11:08 a.m. An East Valley Road resident reported a power outage; the PUD was advised. 11:30 .m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance and fire departments responded to a single car roll over accident on SR 4. 12:25 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Greenwood Road area. The PUD was notified. 1:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Columbia Street residence to aid a man with severe chest pain. 9:59 p.m. A caller reported a three foot tall wall of snow was blocking Columbia Street. 10:01 p.m. Multiple power outages were reported in the Skamokawa area. PUD worked to restore service.
January 17--6:44 a.m. A power outage caused by a fallen tree on Elochoman Valley Road was reported. PUD was notified.
January 18--4:17 a.m. A North Welcome Slough resident reported a power outage. PUD responded and cut power to Ostervold, Cross Dike and North Welcome Slough road in order to make repairs. 5 a.m. A caller reported a power line was sparking on Ingalls Road. PUD was advised. 5:10 a.m. A caller reported a power outage near Flandersville on SR 4. PUD was advised. 6:01 a.m. Deputies, and the Cathlamet ambulance and fire departments responded to a multi-vehicle accident on SR 4 near Milepost 25. No injuries were reported. 6:42 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a power outage. 7:10 a.m. A caller reported a downed power line on Elochoman Valley Road. 7:12 a.m. A disabled vehicle was reported to be blocking the eastbound lane of SR 4. 7:29 a.m. A caller reported that a white Hummer had slid off the road at milepost 42 on SR 4. 7:58 a.m. An Eden Valley Road resident reported a downed tree was blocking the road; county road crews were advised. 11:41 a.m. An Eden Valley Road resident reported that a neighbor's dog had killed all her chickens. A deputy investigated.
January 19--4:30 a.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported a line down. The PUD investigated to determine if it was a phone or power line. 4:59 p.m. A caller reported that water was almost on the road at Risk and Nelson Creek roads.
January 20--5:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Jacobson Road woman who had fallen. 10:47 a.m. A caller reported that his credit card had been used in Moscow in a case of online theft. 3:49 p.m. A caller reported a power outage on West Cape Horn Road.
January 21--12:37 a.m. Deputies responded to a possible DUI on Elochoman Valley Road. 2:21 a.m. Deputies responded to reports of flooding in the Grays River area with water over Loop and Covered Bridge roads and over the westbound lane of SR 4 near West Deep River Road. 7:06 a.m. A Covered Bridge Road resident reported that her husband's vehicle was stuck in the floodwaters and was floating away. A neighbor helped rescue the vehicle and the road was closed to further traffic. 8:25 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Jacobson Road woman who had fallen the previous day and was suffering from dizziness and a fever. 10:58 p.m. A caller reported that floodwater was two feet away from the bank at the Grays River Covered Bridge and that North and South Satterlund roads were covered by shallow water. The road to Rosburg Hall was also underwater.
January 22--9:36 a.m. A caller reported downed power lines were blocking SR 4 at milepost 19. 12:37 p.m. A caller reported that his windshield had been broken by a downed power line. 12:45 p.m. A caller reported the westbound lane of SR4 at Deep River was flooded. Deputies and the Department of Transportation responded and put up signs. 9:24 p.m. Multiple calls were received from the North Welcome Slough area reporting power surges. 9:43 p.m. A caller reported a person was spooking elk through properties and destroying fences.
January 23--A deputy reported a disabled vehicle in the westbound lane of SR 4. State patrol was notified.
