Sheriff's Report - January 5, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 26--1:59 p.m. An officer arrested a driver after making a traffic stop near County Line Park. 10:56 p.m. An Eagle Pointe resident reported being harassed.

December 27--12:08 a.m. A man came to the sheriff's office and reported having been assaulted by two men; a deputy was notified. 6:02 a.m. An Eden Valley resident reported a power outage; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 9:47 a.m. A caller reported a theft of gasoline; an officer was notified. 2:58 p.m. An Elochoman Valley woman reported being threatened. 7:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to Wahkiakum High School to aid a youth with a head injury. 9:45 p.m. A caller reported that storm water was a foot deep over SR 4 one mile west of Skamokawa; the state patrol was notified. 10:43 p.m. Callers reported that storm water was covering, and in some places, blocking, Satterlund, Loop, Barr, Eden Valley and Covered Bridge roads.

December28 1:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident having irregular heart beat. 9:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the Elochoman Slough Marina to aid a man having a heart attack. 12:15 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a man was violating a restraining order; an officer responded and made an arrest. 12:24 p.m. A caller reported a Cathlamet resident was abusing a dog; an officer investigated and found that the dog had access to food, water and shelter. 1:34 p.m. A Westend resident reported people in a small white car were going through people's mailboxes; an officer responded. 4:33 p.m. A motorist reported a fallen tree was partially blocking SR 4 near Bjornsgard Road; the state patrol was notified. 5:05 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at an Elochoman Valley residence; an officer responded. 5:08 p.m. East Valley residents reported a power outage; the PUD was notified. 5:27 p.m. A caller reported an intoxicated woman was driving around Cathlamet; an officer found the woman's vehicle parked at her house. 6:03 p.m. A Westend resident reported a fallen tree was across Hungry Highway and hanging on utility lines. 7:49 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a power outage; the PUD was notified. 11:39 p.m. A motorist reported that Loop Road was impassable because of flooding.

December 29--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man possibly having a heart attack. 7:10 a.m. A caller reported that a juvenile had pushed a woman down; an officer responded and made an arrest. 10:26 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a case of domestic violence and forgery; an officer investigated. 1:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was very ill. 4:27 p.m. A caller reported a child had been assaulted; an officer made contact. 4:32 p.m. A Westend resident reported a sexual assault of a minor; an officer investigated. 7:17 p.m. An officer, the Cathlamet ambulance, and a mental health professional reported to aid a woman who had taken a drug overdose. 8:30 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man who was very ill; the Cathlamet ambulance was later dispatched to assist with a paramedic.

December 30--4:33 a.m. A motorist reported soccer ball size rocks on SR 4 just east of Cape Horn. 10:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was having trouble breathing. 4:03 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a minor had been drinking and was wandering around town; an officer investigated. 8:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Bradley Mountain woman having trouble breathing; a Life Flight Helicopter was placed on standby.

December 31--6:34 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley man. 10:26 a.m. People at County Line Park reported a boat was adrift and apparently taking on water; the US Coast Guard was notified, and a helicopter was dispatched; no one was aboard the boat, which was towed to an Oregon port. 11:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman having back pain. 2:01 p.m. A caller reported a white Honda had struck a vehicle on Main Street and left the scene. 5:57 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a theft of a fifth wheel hitch; a deputy investigated.

January 1--12:41 a.m. A caller reported a juvenile had been using illegal drugs. 2:08 a.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4, and with the state patrol on scene, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. 1:16 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a child having an allergic reaction. 3:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident.
