Conservative branch responds to devastation

To The Eagle:

We, the local "conservative branch," were pretty devastated by last week's Eagle editorial in which we were taken to task for our "continual negative campaign" against our poor abused president, as well as sacrificing the well-being of all the other citizens. This severe upbraiding seems to also have damaged my memory since I can't seem to recall preventing the prez from submitting a budget, giving away trillions to his labor union and Wall Street cronies, spending billions on green Rube Goldberg projects like Solyndra, biofuels, and electric cars, or refusing to proceed with the oil pipeline from Alberta, Canada (not Alaska) that would bring billions of bucks and thousands of jobs. The only citizens I can think of whose well-being has been sacrificed are those we were protecting in Iraq, and I can't remember the conservative call to desert them.

The two month payroll tax extension turns out to be sort of a Pyrrhic victory anyway, since the tax cut is doing nothing for the economy, and most large payroll agencies are pointing out that they won't be able to get the revision done in a timely manner. The president's most successful program to date has been the planning and execution of extravagant vacations for himself and his family. Perhaps we could do our part for both the president and the economy by donating a free stay at our marina along with a round of golf. Maybe we'll get one o' them there electric car charging stations in return.
