Lady Mules bag Chinooks

The Wahkiakum Mule girls basketball team made free throws down the stretch to claim a 51-50 win over the Kalama Chinooks in their season opening basketball game Tuesday.

Kalama led 38-24 after three quarters, and the Mules outscored the Chinooks 27-12 in the fourth quarter to win.

Maya Stanley led Mule scoring with 16 points. Samantha Boyce added 13 points and nine rebounds; Blaine Land had 13 rebounds and made five assists, and Haylee Budd grabbed 11 rebounds. Brieanna Olsen netted nine points; Baylee Olsen seven, Haylee Budd five and Land one.

The Mules entertain the Naselle Comettes tonight (Thursday).
