Sheriff's Report - December 8, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 28--3:30 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing a crippled white-tail doe with a fawn in a field; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) was advised.

November 29--11:07 a.m. A Middle Valley resident complained that a herd of goats is often seen roaming freely; no animals were out when an officer arrived. 2:36 p.m. A caller reported a theft of a Husqvarna line trimmer from a Little Island residence. 3:49 p.m. A caller reported goats were loose in Middle Valley; an officer made contact with the owner. 11:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing people with flashlights in an empty house; an officer made contact and learned the people had authority to be in the residence.

November 30--10:14 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported being threatened; a deputy investigated. 12:36 p.m. A caller reported someone had spray painted playground equipment in Erickson Park. 12:45 p.m. A Grays River resident reported someone had killed one of his cows with an arrow and cut out its tongue; the case was referred to WDFW. 6:43 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported people in a pickup were spotlighting wildlife; the WDFW was notified. 11:21 p.m. Fire fighters from Skamokawa, District 4 and Cathlamet departments responded to a Middle Valley residence with a stove fire.

December 1--7:58 a.m. Wahkiakum High School reported someone had broken into the baseball field concession stand. 2:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had a heart attack at a funeral service; people attending began cardio-pulmonary resuscitation; a deputy sheriff brought a portable defibrillator; the Cathlamet ambulance crew arrived, and the man was revived and taken to a hospital by Lifeflight helicopter. 10:59 p.m. A caller reported a possible juvenile drinking party was going on in Erickson Park .; a deputy responded.

December 2--1:27 p.m. A caller reported that a navigation buoy, No. 46, was drifting down the Columbia between Cathlamet and Skamokawa; the US Coast Guard was notified. 1:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an unconscious woman at an Ingalls Road address. 3:11 p.m. A caller reported people were taking windows and other things from a house in foreclosure on North Welcome Slough Road; a deputy responded and learned the people had permission to be scrapping and cleaning. 8:09 p.m. A non-injury traffic collision was reported on Main Street.

December 3--8:25 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Loop Road man who was unable to move. 12:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island woman with a severe headache. 4:16 p.m. A motorist reported the driver of a red pickup was swerving all over the Puget Island bridge; an officer located the pickup parked at a residence.

December 4--4:56 a.m. An Eden Valley resident reported having no water; Wahkiakum PUD was notified and fixed a leak. 1:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Little Island woman having chest pain.
