Port District No. 1 commissioners raised management employee salaries 2.5 per cent at their meeting November 10.
The manager’s annual salary will be $47,279 and the assistant manager’s $29,456. Both positions are full time and receive health benefits.
Port manager Jackie Lea recommended lowering the winter lodging rates to draw customers staying more than one night. Lea suggested lower rates of $70 for the small cabin and $90 for a large cabin with a three-night minimum.
After discussion commissioners agreed to lower the rates but suggested a two-night minimum. The usual rate for the small cabin is $90 and the larger $110.
Assistant manager Abe York clarified that launch fees for private customers remained unchanged while annual business launch fees increased from $125 to $150 per year for 2012.
The port adjusted some fees beginning in 2012 to increase revenue.
