Eldis Eleanor Baker, 93, left our world November 1, 2011 in Arlington.
She was born December 9, 1917 in Adna. Her parents were Ethel (Keller) and Martin Iverson. Eldis graduated from Adna High and attended business college in Centralia. She then was employed by the County Extension Agents Office in Chehalis where she met her future husband. Eldis and Al Baker were married June 7, 1938. After a time they purchased a dairy farm in Cathlamet. They had three children and a good life. Eldis had the honor of being a State Grange member for over 60 years and also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 60 years with chapters in Cathlamet and Montesano. She was an excellent seamstress, did beautiful handwork, and loved to garden. Eldis was widowed 45 years ago. Living in Montesano, she worked at Les Morgan Photo Studio and Whitney’s car dealership. Eldis leaves a brother, Bill Iverson, her children Alan Baker of Portland, Ron and daughter-in-law Jenny Baker of Arlington, Carol and son-in-law Chuck Fisk of Vashon Island. There are 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. All of us shall miss her feisty independence and the love she gave her family.
A memorial service will be November 19, 2011 at the Skamokawa Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m.
