Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Naselle resident Annette “Sis” Gilbert-Smith, 51, died in Ilwaco, October 31, 2001 following a short battle with cancer.
The daughter of Robert and Mabyn (Klint) Smith, she was born in Longview, Washington on April 17, 1960. She grew-up in Rosburg where she attended grade school and was a graduate of Naselle High School, class of 1979.
Sis was a wife, mother and homemaker. She also was employed by the Washington Department of Fisheries at hatcheries in Naselle, Nemah and Grays River. She enjoyed time with her many friends, card games, dice and listening to music. When her son brought home a puppy named “Ranger” Sis gave him the nickname of “Button-nose” and he provided great companionship.
Sis is survived by her companion and husband of 33 years, Mike Gilbert of Naselle; son Taylor Gilbert of Naselle; sister Debbie Lopez of Naselle; “mom and dad” Phil and Anita Raistakka of Naselle; best-friends Lori Badger, Amy Guinns, and Marlee Burch; nephews Manuel and Jesse Lopez; and other members of her extended family and many friends. Her earthly visit has ended and she is at peace; pain free.
Sis had requested that no service be held. Memorials are suggested to Harbors Home Hospice, 201 7th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98508 or the local organization of one’s choice.
Her guestbook is available at http://www.penttilaschapel.com.
