Sheriff's Report - November 3, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 24--7:42 p.m. A man reported losing a loaded pistol 15 miles up a logging road in the Rosburg area.

October 25--8:40 a.m. A caller reported a fishing boat moored to a dock in Welcome Slough was sinking; an officer checked and found that the owner was working on the problem. 9:25 a.m. A caller reported someone had used spray paint on buildings at Erickson Park in Cathlamet. 10:20 a.m. A caller reported people were shouting at a Cathlamet address; no one was around when an officer arrived. 3:01 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported someone had stolen hay out of a barn. 3:43 p.m. A Little Island resident reported hearing gunshots and then a truck speeding away; no one was around when an officer arrived. 6:26 p.m. A caller reported a man was smoking marijuana beside a car parked in the Elochoman Valley; an officer made contact.

October 26--5:15 p.m. A caller reported that dogs belonging to a man camping on Hornstra's Beach had menaced a woman and child; a deputy was advised. 7:29 p.m. A motorist reported a vehicle had had a non-injury accident on SR 4 near Nassa Point.

October 27--5:57 a.m. A motorist reported that a small white pickup had run off Altoona-Pillar Rock Road; no one was around, and the vehicle was partially blocking the road; a deputy made contact with the owner. 12:11 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported an attempted credit card scam.

October 28--9:43 a.m. A caller reported two women were yelling at each other near the fairgrounds in Skamokawa; no one was around when an officer arrived. 11:09 a.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident reported a theft of jewelry and other items, some of which was spotted in a shop in Astoria. 7:02 p.m. A caller reported seeing a cougar between Cathlamet and Skamokawa.

October 29--12:35 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported people in a vehicle belonging to a Fern Hill resident had smashed a pumpkin on his car and damaged it; an officer made contact.

October 30--11:54 a.m. A Westend resident reported a domestic disturbance. 6:34 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being harassed. 11:10 p.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident reported hearing a gunshot nearby; no one was around when an officer arrived.
