Sheriff's Report - October 27, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 17--8:56 a.m. A Westend resident reported a child sexual assault; an officer investigated. 11:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Oak Point woman with abdominal pain. 4:56 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone shooting a firearm from Coffee Pot Island had come close to hitting buildings on West Sunny Sands.

October 18--10:33 a.m. Skamokawa firemen responded to Hornstra's Beach where a camper shell was burning. 10:42 a.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two-car collision at the intersection of SR 4 and Boege Road. 12:12 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported someone had opened an internet bank account in the caller's name. 1:58 p.m. A caller reported illegal drug activity. 2:30 p.m. A motorist reported that a bale of hay fell off a truck and hit the caller's car and the truck driver left the scene without stopping. 4 p.m. A caller said a state trooper drove through a cross walk in Cathlamet while it was occupied by a youth. 4:59 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a fire was creating an obnoxious smoke.

October 19--5:50 a.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to Rosburg where a log truck had run off SR 4. 11:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island man who was unconscious. 11:32 a.m. A Middle Valley resident reported a domestic assault; officers investigated and made an arrest. 8:33 p.m. An East Valley resident reported a power outage.

October 20--7:33 a.m. A caller reported information on a fraud ring working the Cathlamet area. 8:17 a.m. A caller reported a possible domestic disturbance at a Westend residence; an officer investigated and learned the argument was just verbal. 4:29 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a black dog was killing livestock. 7:38 p.m. A caller reported that a disabled hunter was trapped behind a locked gate on an East Valley logging road; Hancock security was notified.

October 21--10:35 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported someone had destroyed his mailbox. 1:20 p.m. A caller said a Level 1 sex offender was living in the county; an officer was advised. 2:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who was very weak. 4:11 p.m. Officers and a mental health professional were dispatched to a residence where a person was feeling suicidal. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle had passed a school bus displaying no passing signals in Cathlamet.

October 22--6:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island man with abdominal pain. 9:57 p.m. A Cathlamet man reported shooting a raccoon that was attacking his dog.

October 23--8:19 a.m. Longview police requested assistance in contacting a Cathlamet man whose vehicle was found stripped in Longview. 8:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man who was very ill. 10:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man at Brookfield; the man was suffering extreme abdominal pain; Lifeflight Helicopter was dispatched as well. 11:11 a.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to East Birnie Slough Road where a young driver swerved to miss a cat on the road and ran off the bank; the driver was taken to a hospital for examination.
