Mule Coach Marie Riley filed this report:
Tuesday, Oct. 11, found us in Rainier, WA battling wind, rain and occasional sun breaks. Another big field of participants awaited us on this day. Nine schools showed up to battle it to the finish line.
In the high school race there were 70 runners, the bulk of which were from 1A schools, Collan Riley came in 17th overall with a time of 20:04, with Connar Riley right behind him in 18th place at 20:10. Jr. Ramirez crossed the line in 24:49, placing 63rd.
In the middle school race there were 74 runners, boys and girls combined. Carl Kolditz placed 16th in the boys standings running the course in 10:26. On the girls side, Rory Heywood came in 12th overall, but because of an oversight on my part, they didn't have a printout for her name and I forgot to write it in, she was not recorded. We all know she ran the race, though! Mya Kirzy was recorded as placing 12th in 11:47, Shona Heywood, 13th in 11:48, and Lily Kolditz, 25th in 14:50.
Next week we have our league meet at Mossyrock, which will be the middle school runners' last race of the season. It has gone so quickly and it will be sad to see it end.
