Protection of one species to detriment of another

To The Eagle:

I wish to thank Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler for co-sponsoring the endangered salmon predation prevention act (H.R. 946). On October 5, the House Resources Committee voted 29-13 to send this bill to the full house for passage.

One can only hope the full House of Representatives and the US Senate will finally act on this long overdue problem of seal and sea lion predation of salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, and smelt runs which are in fact being decimated by these predators.

These predators have become way over-populated since being listed for protection under the Endangered Species Act (circa 1980) and have multiplied like rodents over the past 30 years just munching away on these fish runs inside the various tributaries.

Things have gotten out of balance by protecting these predators.

It's time to have a sense of balance and start using lethal force. Also, something has got to be done about the terns munching up the fingerlings by the millions near Sand Island before they can even reach the ocean in order to grow up and come back as adults. Man simply can't over protect one species to the detriment of others.

I thank Rep. Herrera Beutler for her responsive email to me of September 30, 2011 and her actions on this. As well as former Rep. Brian Baird who had introduced similar legislation. If this bill goes through people will see a marked comeback of the fish runs over the next three to five years.
