Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
To The Eagle:
We are almost halfway through October and The Charlotte House continues to sponsor activities that will hopefully bring awareness to domestic violence and get people thinking about how they can be a part of the solution to put an end to the violence.
On Tuesday, October 4, I met with our county commissioners where they read and signed a Proclamation declaring October 2011 Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This can be viewed elsewhere in this issue of The Eagle. Thank you to our Commissioners for once again showing your support.
There is still time to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a custom made purple fishing rod with a spiral wrap, created and donated by John Doumit. The rod is on display at Cathlamet Chevron where you can purchase a ticket. Tickets are also available at St. James Family Center, P.J.’s, Howie’s Corner or by calling 795-6401. All proceeds go towards supporting survivors in our community. We will be drawing the winning ticket at our Chocolate Extravaganza on October 21.
Come to the Mules game Friday, October 14th and make sure to wear purple! The Cheer Squad will help promote domestic violence awareness month by cheering in purple ~ thank you ladies for your support!
Last, but certainly not least, The Charlotte House Advisory Board will be holding their 13th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza. This year the event will be held on October 21, at The Bank of Pacific from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Currently we have 18 volunteer bakers lined up to share their delicious chocolate creations. We are excited to announce that Kerrie McNally will be present at this event at 5:30 p.m. to debut her very own song! Kerrie will be accompanied by Andrew Emlen on the cello. Don’t miss this opportunity for a fun, delightful event!
