Longtime Cathlamet resident, Donald C. Grimm, Jr., 82, passed away October 7, 2011 at his home. He was born October 14, 1928 in New Haven, W. Va to Donald, Sr. and Goldin (Roush) Grimm. Donald was raised in West Virginia until he entered into the Army. He married Diane Brigham, they had four daughters and later divorced.
After discharging from the Army, Donald moved to the Seattle area where he worked in tool fabrication as a tool and die maker for Boeing Corp for 32 years; retiring in 1985. He then moved to Cathlamet that same year.
Donald was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and making wood. He enjoyed his family, had a great sense of humor and a strong will. His grandchildren will remember him fondly as a magician and he will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters Della Anderson of Puyallup, Dayle Conrad of Des Moines, Dawn Callow of Boardman, OR and Dorothy Grimm of Port Orchard; the mother of his daughters, Diane Lewan; sisters, Alberta Hubbard of Syracuse, Ohio and Esther King of New Haven, W. Va; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
A Celebration of Don’s life will take place at his home in Cathlamet, Saturday 12:00pm till 3:00pm. Private inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to Community Hospice, PO Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
