Mules sweep Winlock in opener

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Winlock Cardinals on Tuesday. The Mules won 25-12, 25-16.

"Brieanna Olsen did a nice job distributing the ball to our hitters," Mule Coach Jeff Rooklidge commented. "She had 20 assists. Blaine Land had a great match with 15 kills and some solid serving and passing.

"Madison LaBerge added five kills from our right side attack and did a nice job on the service line with three aces and 11 service points. Tori Wegdahl added four kills and four aces with some solid passing on defense.

"Haylee Budd had a tremendous match serving. She led us with 21 service points and did a good job anchoring our back row defense. Baylee Olsen added two kills and led the team with two blocks."

The Mules host the Adna Pirates tonight. They go to Mossyrock Saturday for a tournament and return there Tuesday for a league match. They host Napavine on September 22.
