Sheriff's Report - September 15, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 5--1:57 p.m. A caller reported a male subject was hitting children at Skamokawa Vista Park; an officer investigated and found that a father had broken up an argument of his two sons; all said no assault had occurred. 3:05 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a woman and child were missing; an officer made contact. 3:29 p.m. A driver was taken into custody after a traffic stop.

September 6--11:25 a.m. A Skamokawa resident requested assistance in getting a person removed from his property.

September 7--10:04 a.m. A caller reported finding a brush fire that was nearly out near Cathlamet. 5:11 p.m. A woman reported being harassed; an officer made contact. 7:19 p.m. A caller reported someone was trying to take a vehicle at a Rosedale residence; officers responded and found the vehicle in a ditch; a person was taken into custody. 7:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with breathing trouble.

September 8--1:03 p.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to the foot of KM Mountain where a vehicle had gone off the road and onto its side; a person was treated for minor injuries. 12:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had amputated a finger. 2:25 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a case of credit card fraud. 2:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman possibly having a heart attack. 4:35 p.m. A caller reported two males were making a disturbance at a Westend address; an officer made contact. 7:30 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a neighbor was trespassing. 9 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman with breathing trouble.

September 9--1:29 p.m. A caller said it appeared that cattle at an East Sunny Sands Road address had no access to water. 3:50 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported driver in a gray Chevy is constantly speeding; a deputy was advised. 5 p.m. A Cathlamet woman reported her daughter had been threatened at school during the day. 7:50 p.m. A Skamokawa resident said dogs were killing someone's chickens; a deputy investigated.

September 10--12:06 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported being awakened by three gunshots; a deputy was advised. 12:52 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said people were outside their residence and were yelling at each other. 12:56 a.m. A woman reported that a driver in a Jeep had hit her car and left the scene; an officer investigated and took a person into custody. 9:37 a.m. A motorist reported a motorcycle had run off SR 4 and the driver was injured; the Grays River ambulance responded, and the rider was treated at the scene. 12:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Fern Hill woman injured when her wheelchair tipped over. 1:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a vehicle had run into a power pole along West Birnie Slough and power was out; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 2:49 p.m. A caller reported seeing a slick coming from a sunken vessel near Nassa Point; the Coast Guard and Department of Ecology were advised. 4:40 p.m. The Grays River ambulance was dispatched to aid a baby who was ill. 6:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident injured in a fall.

September 11--8:55 a.m. A caller said two men were shooting arrows at does east of Cathlamet; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife was advised. 6:37 p.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to a location on SR 4 where a vehicle had run over a cliff.
