Cathlamet resident, Larry John Richardson, 73, passed away August 25, 2011 at Hospice Care Center in Longview. He was born June 4, 1938 in Walkermine, Calif. to John and Frankie (Lowry) Richardson. Larry grew up in Orofino, Idaho and lived there until entering the U.S. Navy in 1958, where he spent four years. He met his wife Carol in 1984 and they were married on March 21, 1991; she survives him at home.
Larry and Carol moved to Cathlamet from Bay Center in 2005. He was a Teamster for 40 years, and worked for IML Freight and most recently Yellow Freight; retiring in 1999. He was a family man and loved riding motorcycles and competing, boating, RV camping and fishing. His love for golf was the activity he enjoyed the most, especially competing in the Pro-Ams out of Boise, Idaho. He was an avid outdoorsman into his 70s; making friends wherever he went.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his sons, Jim Richardson (Teresa) and Dan Richardson (Lucy) all of Boise; two stepsons, Mark Howie (Debra) of Cathlamet and Michael Rossman of Longview; a sister, Nancy Reiland of Kuna, Idaho; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his aunt Lillian Redding of Roseville, Calif. and aunt Bev Adams of Orofino, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a son, John Richardson in 1979 and a grandson, Jacob Richardson in 2001.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday at Dowling Funeral Chapel, 45 Broadway St., Cathlamet, WA 98612. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry Richardson’s name to Cathlamet First Aid Division, PO Box 142, Cathlamet, WA 98612.
