Alvina M. Keilwitz-Armstrong

Longtime Cathlamet resident, Alvina M. Keilwitz-Armstrong, 84, passed away August 20, 2011 at Community Hospice in Longview. She was born September 15, 1926 in Chehalis to John and Clara (Klawitter) Ketchum. She moved to Longview at the age of 15 and attended R.A. Long High School. She married E. A. “Dock” Keilwitz and he preceded her in 1989. She married Walt Armstrong on June 7, 1997 in Cathlamet; he preceded her in 2009.

She was a devout Christian and member of Cathlamet Assembly of God Church. Alvina and Dock owned their own nursery in Longview from 1949-1993 when she retired. She loved the nursery and sewing and was a loving wife, mom and grandma, She will be remembered for her great sense of humor.

Alvina is survived by her daughters, Susan Webb of Longview and Pamela Hight of Tacoma; her sons, Gary, Steven and Michael Keilwitz, all of Longview; a stepson, Danny Armstrong; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands; she was preceded in death by her four brothers and two sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Dowling Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Alvina Keilwitz-Armstrong’s name to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
