Entire area has mounting problems

To The Eagle:

It appears that the "surge" is working. The shock troops that we sent to Washington D.C. last November to fight against President Obama's War on Prosperity managed to make some gains in the deficit and health care battles while keeping the tax monster under control. Not bad considering that our invading troops only nominally control one half of one of the three branches of the Empire. Most observers and tacticians agree that real significant gains will have to wait until next year when we can replace the chief executive and perhaps get control of the senate.

Here on the home front, things are not going quite so well. On our eastern front, Longview, suicide bombers in the form of both unions and over-zealous citizens are doing their best to kill both grain and coal shipments from the port, while the Town Taliban gets judicial support for their hi tech camera war against careless motorists. Coming soon: watch for drone warfare against speeders. Out in our wild Westend, Columbia Land Trust continues its depredations and we lose not only one more farm but one of our staunchest warriors (Raven Webb). Here in Greater Metropolitan Cathlamet, our health bureaucrats are working to get land off the tax rolls in order to attract more homeless persons while working on enhanced fees and regulations on small business.

A bit farther afield, citizens of Vancouver are enraged over an excessive pay raise for their PUD manager, and up in Oysterville they can't get the e coli bacteria out of their water system. And that's the bright side: two problems we don't have -- yet.
