Sheriff's Report - August 11, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 1--10:20 a.m. An East Valley Road resident reported being threatened; an officer investigated. 10:38 a.m. A caller reported a drunken driver was headed from County Line Park to Cathlamet; an officer was advised. 5:44 p.m. A person was arrested after a traffic stop on Puget Island. 6:50 p.m. A caller reported two people were drinking under the Birnie Slough Bridge; an officer investigated and found the people were fishing and all was legal. 7:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident with a diabetic problem. 10:01 p.m. Officers and the Grays River Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle fire on SR 4 on KM Mountain.

August 2--6:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman injured in a fall. 2:11 p.m. Skamokawa, District 4 and Cathlamet firemen responded to a fire in a mobile home in East Valley. 4:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall in Cathlamet.

August 3--9:43 p.m. A caller reported someone had thrown a bottle through a car windshield. 11:23 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had stolen jewelry. 7:53 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle had been vandalized. 10:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident having chest pains.

August 4--6:42 a.m. A caller reported an aluminum skiff was hung up on a snag in Elochoman Slough; the boat was retrieved. 7:50 a.m. A caller reported a sail boat had run aground at the upper end of Coffee Pot Island and was leaking diesel into the river; the Coast Guard and Department of Ecology were dispatched. 3:21 p.m. A caller reported a man had stolen some medication. 5:40 p.m. A Grays River resident reported someone was illegally dumping garbage; an officer investigated and found the dump was on private property; the health department was notified. 6:39 p.m. A caller reported backing into a vehicle in Cathlamet and being unable to contact its owners; he was advised to go to the sheriff's office and complete an accident report. 7:26 p.m. A caller said someone had just stolen a blue pickup from a shed in Naselle. 9:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman.

August 5--8:23 a.m. A caller reported someone had dropped a bag of garbage on Welcome Slough Road and left it there several days. 11:12 a.m. A caller reported that people in a black car parked at a Rosedale business were having a domestic disturbance; an officer investigated. 11:47 a.m. A caller reported finding a boat adrift and towing it to the Elochoman Slough Marina. 12:35 p.m. A caller reported someone had vandalized a gate on a logging road. 8:01 p.m. A caller reported trees had fallen on power lines on Ingalls Road; the PUD was advised. 9:33 p.m. A child sexual assault was reported. 9:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a child having an asthma attack at Skamokawa Vista Park.

August 6--12:04 p.m. A Rosedale business reported a couple in a black vehicle drove off without paying for gas; an officer made contact, and they returned to pay. 12:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman stung by a bee. 3:31 p.m. A motorist reported that people in a black Dodge pickup were throwing beer cans out the windows; the state patrol was advised.

August 7--6:40 p.m. A motorist reported people in a Chevy pickup were tailgating and then speeding; an officer stopped the vehicle and issued a citation.
