Youth baseball finish third in state tourney

Central Youth Baseball 10 year old Allstars completed their season with an outstanding state tournament in Kelso. The boys finished in third place with wins over top seeded Kennewick teams. The team was made up of six Wahkiakum and five Longview kids ranging from ages eight to 10. Ashden Niemeyer was the lone eight year old on this team and batted in fourth position. Nine year olds included pitcher/ lead off hitter Luke Brown, and pitcher/center field, James Anderson. Ten year olds on this year's team were Parker Patching, pitcher/shortstop, Jaiden Mahitka, outfield and Jaxon Riffe, outfield. The Longview kids were from Central Youth Baseball and included nine-year-olds Jack Shipley, catcher; Brady Maggs, outfield, Elijah Shearer, pitcher/infield; Noah Leslie, infield; and pitcher Jacob Thompson. The boys showed lots of heart winning back to back loser out games before running out of gas.
