Puget Island resident, James “Jim” Bockius, Jr., 78, passed away July 24, 2011. He was born March 19, 1933 in Pasco to James and Nyda (Larson) Bockius. He graduated from High School in Bend, Ore. and North Western University.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, and a member of VFW in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
As a young man he was a disc jockey in San Francisco, Phoenix and Eureka, he enjoyed working in radio and television. He later became a denturist and owned Bockius & Madonna Dental Labs; retiring after many years in 2000. He loved the sun and enjoyed playing tennis.
In 1995 Jim reconnected with his high school classmate, Maureen Zacher, they married September 10, 1999; she survives him at home. Also surviving him are his son, James Kenneth Snyder; daughters, Becky Hunter and Linda Kitzel; his stepchildren, Randy, Gene and David Zacher, Lizanne Kinnear and Tempie Smith-Abate; several grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in California. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim Bockius’ name to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
