Cathlamet resident, Alfred “Jack” Logston, 77, passed away July 25, 2011 at his Elochoman Valley home. He was born December 7, 1933 in Hiwasse, Ark. to Charles and Ruth (Green) Logston. Jack graduated from high school in Rupert, ID in 1950. He married Sharon Bourne on December 31, 1955; she survives him at home.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
In 1957 he started his telephone company work with Bell Telephone in Moses Lake, WA. Jack and Sharon moved to Cathlamet in 1992 from Kent, WA and started Jacks Telephone Service in 1993, which he continued until September 2009 when he retired.
Jack loved the Lord and followed a Christian path in his everyday life. He was a loving husband and devoted to his wife Sharon for 55 years. He was an attentive, loving, generous dad and grandpa. He enjoyed quality time with his family more than anything and they will miss him and his great sense of humor. His ability to build, repair and fix anything amazed his family.
In addition to his wife, Sharon; he is survived by his son, David Logston of Milwaukie, OR; daughters, Dianne Walters of Sheridan, Ore. and Kelly Logston of Longview, WA; brothers, Steve and John Logston; five grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lucille Nelson; a sister-in-law, Shirlee Lamoureux; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Logston in 2003; four sisters and two brothers.
No service will be held at his request. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack Logston’s name to Wahkiakum Human Resources, 42 Elochoman Valley Rd., Cathlamet, WA 98612.
