Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
May 30--3:04 p.m. A caller said a person was riding a mini-bike on trails at Erickson Park. 6:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the ferry landing to aid a woman having rapid heart beat. 6:43 p.m. A caller said children were throwing rocks at cars along East Valley Road; an officer made contact.
May 31--7:18 p.m. A woman reported her husband wasn't complying with a court order over distribution of property; an officer made contact. 9:27 p.m. An officer arrested a person on Bradley Mountain on an outstanding warrant.
June 1--11:28 a.m. A Hillcrest Drive resident said a man's dog had just attacked the caller's rat terrier and that the caller wanted to shoot the attacking dog; an officer attempted to make contact. 11:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to School House Road to aid a person having seizures.
June 2--3:35 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported lots of speeding vehicles on the road; a deputy was notified. 7:02 p.m. A woman reported finding a dead sea lion on Hornstra's Beach; Cascadia Research Center was notified. 8:02 p.m. A West Birnie Slough Road said someone's dogs were chasing horses; an officer made contact.
June 3--6:48 a.m. A caller said a vehicle was stuck in the sand on Hornstra's Beach and needed a tow. 7:44 a.m. A caller reported seeing a bunch of boats apparently tied together drifting down the Columbia; an officer checked and found they were a group of young kayakers and their escort boats. 11:54 a.m. An officer arrested a driver after stopping his vehicle and finding marijuana paraphernalia during a search. 9:25 p.m. Officers , Skamokawa firemen and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the east side of KM Mountain where a vehicle had run through a guardrail along SR 4; one person sustained minor injuries but was transported to a hospital for examination. 11:31 p.m. A caller said minors were having a drinking party in Rosedale; an officer checked and found that those involved were minors.
June 4--6:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Little Island residence to aid a woman who was very ill. 7:55 a.m. Boaters reported a log had hung up on a buoy in the channel and sunk it; the Coast Guard was notified; the buoy, Channel Marker 41, later surfaced but had sustained damage. 12:21 p.m. Cathlamet and District 4 fire men responded to a fire in a vacant Cathlamet residence; people had been burning brush in the yard, and sparks ignited the shake roof. 2:28 p.m. A Flandersville Road resident reported a man had threatened to shoot him and another man. 7:15 p.m. A Hodgson Road resident reported a bear had been nosing around his residence; Washington Fish and Wildlife were alerted.
June 5--10:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Randall Drive resident. 12:23 p.m. A caller said a 12-year-old was driving a white truck up and down East Valley Road. 1:10 p.m. A motorist reported pieces of metal were hanging off the side of a truck on SR 4. 8:15 p.m. A caller said a boy had been chased by a rottweiler while jogging on North Welcome Slough Road; an officer made contact, and the dog was secured.
June 6--7:05 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an Altoona-Pillar Rock Road residence to aid a woman with a bleeding problem.
