Sheriff's Report - May 26, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 16--12:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was unresponsive. 7:01 p.m. A West Valley resident reported people in a blue car were yelling and honking and then sped past the caller, who saw that a window had been broken out of the vehicle; a different caller reported that one of the people involved had been seen in Skamokawa and was very drunk; the state patrol was advised.

May 17--6:03 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having an asthma attack at the Elochoman Slough Marina. 8:42 a.m. District 4 firemen responded to Hunter Road to extinguish a structure fire. 4:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Middle Valley woman with breathing trouble. 5:05 p.m. An East Birnie Slough Road resident reported someone was burning debris that included plastic and it was making terrible smoke; a deputy was advised. 10:36 p.m. A caller reported someone in a light blue van was weaving all over SR 4 east of Cathlamet; a state patrolman stopped the vehicle.

May 18--12:10 a.m. A caller reported seeing a pickup and car scoot off Risk Road and up the Mainline as if to avoid law enforcement. 11:20 a.m. A caller reported that a man who had just taken a bunch of pills was driving off on SR 4; officers and a mental health professional made contact; the subject passed a sobriety test. 12:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman with breathing trouble. 5:13 p.m. A woman reported being chased by dogs while walking on Welcome Slough Road. 8:17 p.m. A caller reported a car was along the ditch on the Elochoman Mainline; an officer investigated and took a person into custody.

May 19--Two cars collided on Oatfield Road; an officer investigated; there were no injuries. 3:48 p.m. A caller reported a juvenile had attempted to commit arson; an officer investigated. 8:53 p.m. A caller reported that a driver had left his car and was intimidating another person at a Cathlamet business. 8:56 p.m. A caller reported inhumane treatment of a puppy at a farm in the Elochoman Valley.

May 20--3:39 p.m. An officer reported stopping a vehicle and arresting the driver, whose license had been suspended. 4:21 p.m. A caller reported a case of child sexual abuse; an officer investigated. 5:18 p.m. Three motorists reported the driver of a motor home was weaving all over the road; an officer stopped the vehicle. 9:56 p.m. Officers and emergency responders responded to Grays River Point where a vehicle had run into a horse.

May 21--7:21 a.m. A West Sunny Sands resident reported someone had thrown a rock through a motor home window.

May 22--12:42 a.m. A caller said a person with a very loud boom box was in Erickson Park; no one was there when an officer arrived. 8:07 a.m. A caller reported finding a homeless woman sleeping in a van; she left walking westbound on SR 4; the state patrol was notified. 11:58 a.m. A caller reported a person on a motorbike was trespassing on KM Mountain; an officer stopped the bike and cited the driver.
