Hobson, Weddington to wed

James Robert Hobson and Katherine Lauren Kane Weddington of St. Johns, Florida, proudly announce a ceremony and reception celebrating their marriage on May 22, 2011.

Hobson is a 1998 graduate of Wahkiakum High School and a 2004 graduate from Washington State University. He is employed with Bank of America-Merrill Lynch as a project manager for Global Wealth Investment Management. James is the son of Ronna Hobson and the late Joyal Hobson, Jr. of Cathlamet.

Weddington is a 2002 graduate of Perry Hall High School in Baltimore, MD and a 2006 graduate from the University of Baltimore. She is currently employed as a Client Implementation Manager for RegEd. Katherine is the daughter of Judith Weddington of Jacksonville, FL and Raymond Weddington of Yardley, PA.

Their wedding will be held at The Palm Valley Gardens, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with a reception to follow with their closest friends and family. The two will travel to Riviera Maya, Mexico for a honeymoon and will return to their home in St. Johns, Florida.

Naselle students perform

The Naselle High School Drama club is producing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. with special permission from Music Theatre International and directed by Barb Swanson. Performance dates are May 6, 7, and 14 at 7 p.m. and May 13 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $4 for students.

FFA plant sale on Saturday

Naselle FFA students will hold their annual plant sale this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the greenhouse beside Naselle High School. The students are selling flowers, herbs and vegetable plants, including hanging baskets for $10.

Farm market season begins

Two Islands Farm Market will begin their sixth season May 6 at Stockhouse’s Farm, located at 59 West Birnie Slough Road on Puget Island. Farm Market hours have been extended and the market will run Fridays from three to 6:30 p.m. through October. Fresh Wahkiakum-grown vegetables, cut flowers, veggie starts including 23 varieties of tomato plants, perennial plants, artisan breads, local art-rocks, eggs from pastured chickens and USDA processed goat, beef, lamb, and pork by the cut are often available. Vendors for opening day include The Farm at 172, Little Island Farm, Greyfields, The Farm At The End of The Island, Wahkiakum Master Gardeners, Stockhouse’s Farm, SkamokaRocks, and Victorian Acres Breads. Two Islands Farm Market booth will accept Senior Farmers’ Market Checks and Food Stamp EBT cards this season. The Up-Beet Stage will have an open mic from three to 6:30 and all musicians are welcome. The Chief Wahkiakum trolley will run, weather permitting, from the Elochoman Marina to the Farm Market leaving the marina at three, four, and five p.m. on Fridays.

Friendship circle holds tea

Grays River Valley pioneer history will come to life for the program at this year’s Ninth Annual Friendship Circle Spring Tea and Luncheon on May 15 at the Rosburg Community Hall. Several local history photo albums will be on hand and parts of them will be brought to life in “A ‘Home-Sweet-Home’ Photo Album” presentation.

Women of the Grays River United Methodist Church sponsor this annual event where people come from far and near to sample special tea delicacies, visit with old and new friends, enjoy the program and win raffle prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each. Proceeds from the event go to Friendship Circle special projects.

Doors open at noon. The luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. with the program to follow. Suggested donation is $8 per person at the door. Attendees are invited to wear a special dress or hat that never gets worn, or to come in whatever makes them comfortable. For information call 360-465-2740 or 360-484-7749.

On Dean's List

Alan Michael Erickson of Rosburg was named to Seattle Pacific University’s 2011 Winter Quarter Dean’s List. Students on the Dean’s List have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade point average.
