Mules capture golf league championship

Thursday May 5th

The Wahkiakum Mules clinched the league championship and finished the 2011 season undefeated with a record of 22-0-2. Both ties were with last year's 3rd place state finisher Northwest Christian of Lacy.

The league championship belongs to the Mules based on an 8 stroke victory over the Navigators on May 3rd, Northwest Christian's only loss of the season.

Thursday's 6 team match scores were Wahkiakum 182, NWC 182, Adna 188, Willapa Valley 205 and South Bend, Raymond and North Beach no score due to too few players to complete 4 scores.

Leading the Mules was last year's state qualifier Brook Calvert 43, Bradley Peek 46, Brysen Coleman 46, and Peter Weiler 47 all sophomores. Also playing were freshman Austin Good 49 and Zach Calvert who shot his season's best score of 45.

The Mules travel back to Cosmopolis, WA on May 11 and 12 to play the District Championships.
