Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
April 4--9:30 p.m. An officer took an Oregon resident into custody after stopping the man's vehicle on SR 4 near Cathlamet.
April 5--5:48 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a fire in a range hood; he turned off the power, and a fireman responded to check the residence.10:54 a.m. A motorist reported that a person in a silver Ford Ranger had crowded into the line of traffic waiting for the Puget Island ferry; the state patrol was notified. 12:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island address to aid a man possibly having a seizure. 6:32 p.m. A Westend resident reported a violation of a restraining order; an officer investigated and determined the report was unfounded. 10:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall.
April 6--12:30 a.m. A motorist reported a Chevy pickup was on its side along SR 4 near Naselle and no one was around; the state patrol was notified. 10:23 a.m. A caller said someone had left a baby unattended in a car parked on Main Street; a deputy responded. 10:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an infant injured in a fall at a Puget Island residence. 12:13 p.m. A caller reported someone had stolen fuel from a Cathlamet gas station; a deputy investigated. 12:38 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported there had been prowlers outside during the night; an officer made contact. 7:08 p.m. A motorist reported that SR 4 on KM Mountain was covered with snow and sleet; the state Department of Transportation responded.
April 7--9 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island woman who was having trouble breathing. 9:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with heart trouble. 9:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man injured when a Bobcat rolled at a Cathlamet dock. 1:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall at a Puget Island residence. 1:08 p.m. A caller reported a person with a suspended license had been driving a car parked on Main Street; an officer investigated and wrote a citation. 3:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who had a head injury. 4:13 p.m. A woman reported someone had stolen her identity and was using her information in Yakima; the report was referred to Yakima authorities. 10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with breathing difficulty.
April 8--12:42 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported someone in a dark gray sedan had been going around the neighborhood for over an hour, stopping in driveways and then circling; the vehicle was gone when an officer arrived. 1:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man injured in a fall from a log truck. 7:44 p.m. A Westend resident reported hearing shots from a rifle, possibly from poachers; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 9:22 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a man was drunk and had assaulted someone; officers responded and summoned the Cathlamet ambulance to aid with possible alcohol poisoning.
April 9--7:52 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4 near Grays River and arrested the driver after administering field sobriety tests. 10:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having chest pain.
April 10--1:02 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a person armed with a knife at a Rosedale residence; the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to assist a woman with cardiac trouble. 8:12 p.m. Cowlitz County reported a hit and run accident had occurred on SR 4 near Longview, involving a vehicle headed west; a Wahkiakum officer stopped the vehicle near County Line Park.
