Puget Island property valuation appeals ready

Puget Island taxpayers who filed appeals with the Wahkiakum County Board of Equalization (BOE) are encouraged to contact the county assessor’s office to review the stipulated values developed by Assessor Bill Coons.

Taxpayers may sign the Assessment Roll Corrections Agreed To By the Taxpayer if they agree with the assessor’s value, and their BOE petition will be dropped and the agreed-to value will take effect for taxes due this year, Coons said Tuesday.

If taxpayers do not agree with the new value, the BOE will be notified so that a hearing may be scheduled.

Taxpayer’s may contact the assessor’s office in person or by telephone Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed on Wednesdays.

Taxpayers may also email the assessor at coonsb@co.wahkiakum.wa.us to make an appointment to review the new valuation.
