What's Happening at the Fair?

Flowers are already starting to bloom at the Fairgrounds and its only March! Soon Fair time will be only a few short months away. Now’s the time to start putting your craft projects together that you would like to exhibit. If your garden areas can be worked up early, you will be able to plant vegetable seeds and have a beautiful crop of vegetables to bring to Fair. Think about what you would like to exhibit at the Wahkiakum County Fair this summer and make it happen! Start your projects now and you will have lots of items to exhibit!

Can you attend 12 meetings a year, volunteer at multiple fund raising activities year round, be involved in preparing the fairgrounds for our Fair and other special events each year? Do you have new ideas for fund raising activities? Like to be a part of specialized committees? The Wahkiakum County Fair Board is searching for a special person to fill an open position on the Fair Board. If you would like to learn about the Fair Board position please call Neil Beerbower at 849-0001 or email Neil at nbbeer@live.com. You will be helping the Fair Board plan the 103rd Wahkiakum County Fair!

We will be excepting applications for the Wahkiakum County Fair Princess Royalty program soon. If you are 14-19 years of age, could use a scholarship to help with college costs and would like to be a representative of the Wahkiakum County Fair at different local events throughout the summer watch this column for more information!

The next Wahkiakum County Fair Board fund raiser will be Easter Bingo on April 22. If you came to our Turkey Bingo last November and had a great time, remember to bring your family and friends with you to Easter Bingo! Please continue to support your Fair by attending Wahkiakum County Fair Board fund raising events advertised in this column. All proceeds are guaranteed to support and maintain your Fair. If a Fair fund raiser is not advertised in this column it’s not a Wahkiakum County Fair Board event.

Do you need to get your horse in shape for spring trail rides? I have 2011 horse gate keys that can be purchased for $50. With this key you can use the arena year round, weather permitting, except for Fair time and scheduled events that will be posted in the arena.

If you need to gain access to the Fairgrounds contact Fair Manager Becky Ledtke @ 560-0371 or you can call 1-360-795-3480 and leave a message.

The next Wahkiakum County Fair Board meeting will be on April 13 at 7 p.m. at the River Street Building meeting room. The public is welcome to attend.
