Monday: In Their Shoes

February is nationally recognized as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. In honor of this The Charlotte House is offering a FREE opportunity to parents and others who work with and/or care about teens.

The program is Monday, February 28, 7 p.m., at St. James Family Center.

In Their Shoes is a scenario-based training designed to help participants learn what dating is like for to-day’s teens – from their perspective. What we hope to achieve with this activity is to: Increase awareness of teen dating violence. Help adults who work with teens recognize unhealthy patterns in teen relationships and learn to talk to teens about the problem in a useful way.

Shed light on the differences between teen dating violence and adult domestic violence. Promote conversations about teen dating violence. Encourage people to think creatively and act intentionally to assist teens struggling with unhealthy and abusive relationships. Show that everyone has a role to play in teaching teens about healthy relationships.

Who should participate?

This activity is an adult-only event for adults who interact with teens. This can include:

--Teachers; Counselors

--School administrators

--Youth group leaders

--Parent associations
