Sheriff's Report - February 17, 2011

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 7--12:15 p.m. Cathlamet schools reported a large dog was on the playground and it was bothering students. 3:59 p.m. A caller said a man with a stocking cap and long black coat was dancing on the Elochoman Valley Road; an officer made contact and said there were no problems at that time. 4:09 p.m. A caller reported a theft of an auto which might possibly be at an Elochoman Valley residence.

February 8--10:27 a.m. A caller said a person was camping at the Elochoman Slough Marina without paying fees; a deputy was advised. 5:01 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a burglary.

February 9--A caller reported wires, possibly telephone wires, across the Elochoman Valley Road at Milepost 6.5; the phone company was notified. 11:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man having breathing trouble. 2:47 p.m. A caller reported that a child had been abused several years ago; an officer determined that the statute of limitations had expired, but the person could still make a formal report. 4:49 p.m. A caller said that two dogs had threatened people walking on Covered Bridge Road. 5 p.m. A caller reported someone had violated a restraining order. 7:16 p.m. A caller reported an injured elk lying along East Valley Road; the Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 9:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident.

February 10--2:53 p.m. A caller reported a sexual assault; a deputy investigated.

February 11--12:30 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Rosedale residence; an officer investigated and took a person into custody on a charge of possessing methamphetamine.

February 12--3:15 p.m. A caller reported a large sheet of metal lying on SR 4 near Abe Creek; a Fish and Wildlife agent cleared it away. 3:30 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported lots of speeding vehicles.

February 13--8 a.m. A caller reported that a propane tank had fallen out of a vehicle and rolled under another on Broadway Street; a Cathlamet fireman took care of the situation. 9:38 a.m. A caller requested contact with Fish and Wildlife about smelt in the Columbia. 12:19 p.m. A caller reported that an unlicensed driver was leaving a Puget Island residence; an officer made contact and said the unlicensed person wasn't driving. 4:31 p.m. A caller reported a theft of copper from a Deep River store. 5:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having a reaction to a medication.
