The Eldercare Education Center is offering the Fundamentals of Caregiving Certification Class on February 15 – 18 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This class is geared to both family caregivers, persons who have worked as a caregiver but have no credentials, and persons wanting to enter the profession by seeking training. The class prepares individuals to work in assisted living centers, adult family homes, in-home and agency caregiving, and retirement communities.
The 28 hour class is sponsored by the Department of Social and Health Services. The curriculum covers Washington State Regulations covering senior rights, and laws covering physical, financial, mental abuse, neglect and abandonment. Medication management, documentation and confidentiality are discussed. Activities of daily living, including special diets, personal care, exercise, back safety, infection control, transfer techniques, and disease processes are also featured. A workbook/reference guide is included.
